The Southwest Newcomer Welcome Centre is available to assist new Canadians with goal setting, career planning and job searching. This means providing support, knowledge and resources to newcomers so that they can find reliable and rewarding employment.

Finding a job can be challenging particularly in competitive fields. That’s why we want to do all that we can to set you up for success. We offer employment preparation workshops, resume and cover letter improvement support, as well as referrals to employment services in and around your community.

Career help for newcomers.

If you’ve obtained education outside of Canada, then we can help you in applying for credential assessments and recognition. This process finds alignment between your completed schooling and the Canadian post-secondary educational system. Finding a suitable comparison will help you in applying for relevant positions within your field within your level of experience.

To assist in finding employment, the Welcome Centre can provide professional guidance either one-on-one or as a group to discuss employment focus, training and academic services that could benefit you.

Prairie Community Services for TFWs Program (Migrant Worker Support Program)

Building on the success of the TFW Prairie Region Project (which ran from December 17, 2020 – September 30, 2022), Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) has approved the Prairie Community Services for TFWs Program under the Migrant Worker Support Program. 

Specific Program Objectives:   

·       Increase migrant workers' awareness and understanding of their rights and responsibilities through educational activities and/or educational material

·       Empower migrant workers to exercise their rights by providing or assisting in accessing services available to them

·       Foster inclusion and welcoming of migrant workers through social, cultural, and/or recreational events

·       Support migrant workers during emergency situations

·       Foster new partnerships or leverage existing partnerships/networks to support migrant workers

·       Develop and implement coordinated approaches among community organizations, and/or build their capacity and knowledge to provide resources and services to migrant workers
